If Anyone Noticed
A poem about what others can't see.
If anyone noticed they would see how my skin glows in the golden afternoon sun; How it's rich brown color is not just "chocolate" like they want so desperately to believe. If anyone noticed, they would see my shade matches that of wet sand. the kind for castles and finding pearly seashells. If anyone noticed they would see how I light up at the prospect of a good question. They would see how I share part of myself that I can until the light in me fades at the revelation that my words reached deaf ears. If anyone noticed, they would see how fast I change from open to closed. They would notice how I always forgive and open again. But of course, they don't notice. I don't blame them, but I wish more met their eye than "black" "talkative" "chill" because I am so much more than the labels you see and you could find me, I'm sure, if you only stopped to notice.

So many of us live with blinders on, with only willing to accept what makes us feel comfortable. Knowledge is growth and growth is understanding that limiting your mind, can only limit your growth.
This is so simple and yet it cuts so deep to the core of so much! If more people stopped and didn’t base their opinions on the data from our our physical senses alone but rather included their internal senses in the process….or no judgement at all please, just acceptance .. 🙏 .
